China Glaze Anchors Away Collection

while i bask in the fabulous, cool, layer-friendly weather, i can't help but be reminded that spring is just around the corner, thanks to China Glaze's new spring '11 collection, Anchors Away.

with 12 nautically-inspired colors, these bold and confident brights are reminiscent of a carefree natural getaway, with soft ethereal hues that inspire leisurely thoughts of sand and sea.

colors include:

Life Preserver: highly pigmented and luxurious poppy creme
Hey Sailor: vibrant creme red
Ahoy!: delightfully intense pink that flashes with reflective glass speck
First Mate: sophisticated and rich navy creme
Starboard: hip and playful green creme
Lighthouse: multi-dimensional, bright yellow glass speck
White Cap: whimsical and sparkling multi-dimensional white
Pelican Gray: high shine, cool toned grey creme
Sea Spray: calming pale blue creme
Below Deck: a flirty mix of taupe and violet
Sunset Sail: delightful peachy pink high shine creme
Knotty: micro-particle beige shimmer

the Anchors Away collection will be available in Ulta, Sally Beauty, and select salon supply stores by february, 2011. p.s., if you're a fan of the brand, follow them on Twitter!

from the descriptions and looks of the pics, i'm really curious to see Below Deck, Ahoy!, Pelican Gray, Sea Spray, Sunset Sail and Knotty in person.

tell me: which color(s) are you drawn to?

Jessica Alba Wears China Glaze Sacred Heart

in a blast-from-the-past sort of event, celebrity manicurist Marsha Bialo recently gave Jessica Alba a fabulous manicure using China Glaze Sacred Heart for the cover of the summer 2010 issue of Genlux Magazine.

it just so happened that Marsha and the stylist were working together, searching to find the perfect color to represent the transition of summer nail trends into fall. finally, they agreed that Sacred Heart would be the perfect choice because of its neon base combined with the richness of always-chic-in-fall red.

the red polish, which launched in 2008 (waayy back, ha!) as part of the Ink Collection, was a great compliment to Jessica's olive skin tone, and looks good on me too, don't you think? ;)

nail color of the week: China Glaze Light as Air

i've been wearing this China Glaze polish, Light As Air (from their spring 2010 Up & Away collection), since yesterday, and i have to say, i love it. this cool, opaque, pale shade of lilac is a cheerful in a laid-back sort of way.

i'll defintitely be wearing it a lot (both on my tips and my toes) this summer! :)

China Glaze Wizard of Ooh Ahz Returns + Swatches

China Glaze re-released their beloved Wizard of Ooh Ahz collection just before the holidays and with the whirlwind that comes with that time of year (not to mention my family and i had just moved), i'm finally posting my swatches (better late than never, right?).

if you are a fan of sparkles and shimmer in your polish, these are sure to excite you. if you don't already own these, take a look at this collection...

The Ten Man is a white-silver and one of my faves. it looks good with anything.

Cowardly Lyin' is a really pretty gold. sadly, my cool complexion doesn't look as good in this shade.

CCCourage is my absolute favorite of the bunch. i am a huge purple polish fan, and this shimmery beauty doesn't disappoint.

Dorothy Who? is a jelly polish with blue and silver shimmer. i love this one--it's amazing!

Good Witch? is a soft pink and, as you can see, very pretty. my daughter loves this one (of course).

Ruby Pumps is the best-seller of the group, loved and adored by nail polish fans everywhere, with good reason-- it's gorgeous! this pic does it no justice. i love the shimmer in this red and even i (not much of a red polish wearer) like to wear this one.

each shade required three coats for the sake of the pics. some shades (like The Ten Man and Dorothy Who? and Cowardly Lyin') appeared more sheer with only two coats. in any case, these are all very gorgeous polishes-- what do you think??
